Even though it still does not feel like fall outside yet it certainly looks like it in my house! I am going to show you my foyer today. I really love how it turned out. It was totally not planed and ended up being one of my favorite displays yet! We got this beautiful buffet at an antique store not too long ago and it is so easy to decorate around!
I’ll start with the window. I had this hanging here before and for my summer/spring display it had some pretty green damask fabric behind it. I found this adorable brown and orange fabric and replaced it for more of a fall look. I am so in love with this fabric I have used it for 2 other projects besides this! The wreath hanging in front of the window is my favorite wreath ever! My intention was to make one like THIS ONE from The Little Brown House. Mine turned out close but I could not find any brown coffee filters anywhere in my whole town!!! So I had to make my own and here is how I did it.
By the way this wreath cost $0.85 to make! 85 cents! This is the cheapest prettiest thing ever! I bought a package of white regular coffee filers for 85 cents. Then I brewed some strong tea and just soaked all the coffee filters in the tea for an hour or so.
Then once I thought they were in there a little while I took them out and laid them over several cookie sheets and let them dry over night.
If you can find regular brown coffee filters this would be a lot faster. But in the end they all kind of died different shades which I liked. Here they are the next day after they are dried.
Since I could not find a cardboard wreath I made my own. I just hot glued/taped two cardboard pieces together from an old box and traced a circle with one of my mixing bowls. Then traced another smaller circle with a smaller mixing bowl.
Then I used a box cutter and cut out my wreath. This is real rocket science!
Then I took one coffee filter at a time and pinched the middle and scrunched up the sides and hot glued them in a ring around my cardboard wreath.
I did two rows of coffee filters. I had enough to make a second wreath and I did. I will show you that later. To hang this up I just hot glued ribbon to the back and to the top of my window frame.
I love it! It reminds me of dried flowers so I like to pretend it is dried hydrangeas or something! Next I took these white sticks that I spray-painted for Christmas last year and hot glued some fall leaves on to them. I bought a pack of these fabric fall leaves that had 150 leaves for $1 at Dollar Tree. I really like them because they are not plasticy looking and they are kind of iridescent and see-through. I just hot glued them here and there until I was satisfied!
For the little display in front of the leafy branches. I propped up a tray and the Williams sign I made HERE. Then I just threw in a pretty little pumpkin some old books and a little white pumpkin I spray-painted.
For my lamp shade I wanted it to be simple but fun. If you want to know one way to make a lamp shade out of fabric and your lamp shade is bell shaped like mine it can be a little tricky. First I lay out my fabric and then I roll the lamp shade along the fabric and it will make an arc shape. I just cut the fabric as I roll the shade. I leave about 1-2 inches extra around the top and bottom.
Then I just hot glued the top and bottom of the fabric to the inside of the lamp shade and thats it.
To dress it up a bit I used some left over fabric from behind my window and used the reverse side which is orange with brown. I just hot glued it near the bottom. It did not have to be perfect because I put trim on top and below it.
Then I hot glued this cute little ruffle trim I found to the bottom of the lamp shade.
I added some yellow ribbon around the top of the fabric to make it look even and that was that! The brown woven square is a basket lid and then I just filled another cute basket with dried corn and some gourds I already had.
I think it is a warm and welcoming entrance to our house and I am pretty happy with it!
Have a good day!

The wreath rocks. I love how the tea staining gave it the varied coloration. And the wreath form was brilliant! So very frugal.
